At best this is an extremely cruel action against our fellow North Carolinians who have fallen on tough times through no fault of their own and at worst it is one of the most egregious instances of institutional bigotry that I have ever seen. This is, however, a very expedient political move. After all, some one has to make up the difference that all these "tax incentives" offered to the large corporations to set up shop here in NC create. McCrory would have us believe that there are a multitude of small business owners wringing their hands every night lamenting that if only the government would take away the few dollars we give to the unemployed we could start hiring again. Really?
